Toyota is well known for reliability and quality craftsmanship and provides a range of warranty options to meet the needs of its customers. Toyota has your investment covered from basic limited warranties to extended coverage plans and specific warranties for components like the powertrain and hybrid system. When purchasing a new vehicle, understanding the warranty coverage provided by the manufacturer is essential for ensuring peace of mind and protection against unexpected repair costs. Read about the types of warranties provided by Toyota and what the coverages mean. We can always answer your questions about vehicle warranties when you visit Russ Darrow in West Bend.

Basic Limited Warranty Coverage: This warranty typically covers Toyota models, including hybrids and non-hybrids, for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. It covers most of your Toyota components, excluding typical wear-and-tear items. This includes the engine, transmission, drivetrain, electrical systems, and other crucial parts. It doesn’t cover normal wear and tear; items like tires, brake pads, windshield wipers, and fluids are omitted. Damage caused by accidents, misuse, or neglect is also not covered.

Powertrain Warranty Coverage: Beyond the basic limited warranty, Toyota also provides a Powertrain Warranty focusing specifically on the core components that make your vehicle move. This warranty covers the powertrain components, such as the engine, transmission, transaxle, front and rear-wheel drive systems, and other major drive components. Typically, the powertrain warranty covers your vehicle for 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first.

Corrosion Perforation Warranty: Toyota is also known for its quality rust prevention. They back this up with coverage for 60 months/unlimited miles against rust that eats through the metal of your vehicle’s body panels. This means that if any original body panel on your car develops a perforation (or hole) from rust, its repair or replacement will be covered. The rust must not result from a lack of maintenance, abuse, neglect, or environmental conditions covered under this part of the warranty. (note that surface rust that can be fixed with basic paint repair is not generally covered).

Restraint Warranty: This warranty covers repairs or replacements for defective airbags and seatbelts for 60 months or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. However, it does not cover repairs caused by abuse, neglect, lack of maintenance, environmental conditions, theft, or fire. Additionally, the system won’t be covered if you attempt to make any repairs yourself.

Hybrid System Warranty: Toyota covers specific components of their vehicles’ hybrid systems, including the hybrid battery, inverter, and other hybrid-specific parts. This warranty is good for up to 10 years or 150,000 miles, whichever happens first. To keep the hybrid system warranty valid, it is essential to follow Toyota’s recommended maintenance schedule for hybrid vehicles. Take advantage of Russ Darrow’s highly trained and skilled technicians in West Bend for all your Toyota Hybrid maintenance needs.

Beyond the warranties listed above, Toyota also provides additional coverage depending on the vehicle type and powertrain, such as a Genuine Toyota Accessories Warranty or Toyota Extra Care. For greater peace of mind, Toyota offers this optional program as an extended service plan that can be tailored to your specific needs.
